A good app to accompany a walking tour of NYC new architecture
This app annotates recent buildings designed by the leading architectural firms. It shows them on a GPS map (great for walking tours) and carries photos of each building. It also presents the architects, with a professional bio and summaries of their accomplishments. Things I would wish for: more buildings. Many important new buildings go uncatalogued. Is there a time lag? Another: it should be possible to navigate directly from an architects bio to his building(s). Our iPad has no cellular connection so we had to resort to public hotspots to use the GPS mapping feature, which is perfectly feasible in Manhattan. It certainly helps the tour along. Note that the app does not cover historical buildings, but rather only the most recent ones. A great idea for an (expensive) new app would be a more comprehensive historical selection, and why not include Chicago? Its first update would be to add a Palladio guide.

Wonderful app!
This seamless and well-designed app provides users insight into the Big Apples most prominent artistic feature: its architecture. Great for architecture-lovers and anyone who wants to learn more about the city that never sleeps.
